Define, Explore, Solve Foundations

Updated: Jul 15, 2022

Hello everyone! Below are the foundational skills I have identified students need before implementing Define, Explore, Solve, or DES in your classroom. These skills are Accountable talk, Self-Questioning, Academic Language, and Numeracy Practice.

These skills are going to be used throughout each step of Define, Explore, Solve. It will take some time on the front end to teach these skills, but these are the foundations of math problem-solving. Taking the time to teach these skills at a deeper level will make all of the difference in strengthening your students critical thinking/problem solving skills.

In the following days I will create an individual post for each of the 4 skills and we will dig deeper! Stay tuned!
